Wizkid to headline Detty December Fest’s 2026 opening concert in Lagos

The Nigerian Afrobeats star is the first confirmed headliner for the festival’s Grand Opening Concert on 18 December, which will take place on the Detty Festival Stage. Organisers are expanding the event this year to include two stages, with further artist announcements expected in the coming months.

The festival’s debut attracted more than 40 000 attendees to Ilubirin, where performers included Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Juma Jux, Diamond Platnumz, Wande Coal, Phyno, Fave, Young Jonn, Qing Madi and Ice Prince.

The 2026 edition will feature the Detty Festival Stage, which will host headline performances, and the Detty Pulse Stage, which will run throughout the 13-day programme with nightlife, cultural programming and performances by emerging artists.

“Last year proved there was a real appetite for a festival of this scale in Lagos,” Deola Art Alade co-founder and group CEO of The 360Co said. “This year we're building on that momentum, not just by growing the festival, but by creating more opportunities for artists, brands and audiences to experience the best of African culture together.”

The festival is being held during the wider Detty December period, which has become a major cultural and economic season in Lagos. According to the MO Africa Company report The Economics of Euphoria: Lagos’ Detty December 2025, the 2025 season generated an estimated ₦396.5 billion (about $291 million) in consumer spending across Lagos and attracted visitors from Nigeria and the diaspora.

The scale of the annual December influx has also led the Federal Government to establish a Presidential Task Force to coordinate areas including aviation, tourism, security and electricity during the festive period.

Detty December Fest 2026 will feature concerts, DJ-led events, emerging-artist showcases, food and lifestyle activations, brand experiences and family-oriented attractions. These will include a Christmas Grotto, Gen Z Republik and pop-up markets.

The festival is produced by Livespot, which has previously organised major live entertainment events in Africa, including Cardi B’s first performances in Nigeria and Ghana.
