Yola Semedo leads the way for Angola Music Awards

Singer Yola Semedo was nominated in seven categories (Album of the Year, Female Artist, Best Semba and Kizomba, Best Video, Best R&B/Soul and Song of the Year).

Kiaku Kiadaff bagged six nominations (Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Best Afro-jazz, Best Semba, Best Music of Northern People of Angola and Song of the Year). Next on the list of Angola’s top performers were Anna Joice, Coréon Dú and Totó ST with five nominations each, while Bruna Tatiana, NGA and Ricardo Lemvo earned four apiece.

According to event spokesman Daniel Mendes, voting in all 20 categories will take place between 8 April and 30 May, when the ceremony takes place.

Saurimo city, capital of the eastern Lunda Sul province, will host the 2015 Angola Music Awards. "The preparation process of the event is underway to take place in May in Saurimo city," said Mendes.

The municipal administrator of Saurimo, João Felipe, expressed his satisfaction at the choice of the capital of Lunda Sul to host the event.
