YouTube Music transfers delayed due to ‘high demand’

The news follows YouTube’s official rollout of its transfer feature recently. Transfers are still ongoing but they are happening at a slow pace. YouTube Music did not offer a clear explanation for the slowdown. And some users still don’t have the option to transfer their music despite the rollout. Those who started the transfer recently say it can take several days to get songs, playlists and other data transferred to YouTube Music. However, music recommendations are synching immediately.

Not being able to transfer their libraries to YouTube Music is one of the reasons why people still use Google Play Music (GPM). Google has also introduced a form for people wanting early access to YouTube music transfers.

Users who initiate the YouTube Music transfers service will now receive the following message on the interface: “Due to high demand, transfers are delayed.”

Not everybody wants to migrate to YouTube Music. Some GPM users would like to stay, while others want to switch to other music streaming services such as Spotify, Digital Music News wrote. The two music streaming services seem to be not on par, and some have complained about the user interface and lack of features on YouTube Music. The app also uses more battery life and experiences complications with voice commands, some users said.

“I’m honestly considering subscribing to Apple Music once GPM gets the axe,” a disgruntled GPM user wrote on Reddit. “I’m loathing having to install iTunes on a PC again, but it seems to be the only platform right now that offers the ability to upload your personal library and stream it anywhere.”
