07 Mar 2025 - 08:57
Zimbabwean-born and London-based singer Ananya has surpassed 1 million streams on her debut EP, I Woke Up One Night.
Released in October 2023 and recorded between Cape Town and London, the project has gained international recognition, establishing her as a rising voice in pop music.
Featuring standout tracks such as ‘Bad For You’, ‘Gone (Forever)’, and ‘I’m Too Nice’, the EP has resonated with listeners worldwide, particularly in China, the US, UK, Japan, and South Africa.
“This EP was born from so many emotions—dreams, regrets, truths, and realisations,” Ananya said. “To know that people around the world have connected with it in such a meaningful way is beyond anything I could have imagined.”
Following the success of I Woke Up One Night, Ananya has continued to build momentum with a series of follow-up singles. ‘Emotions’ emerged as an empowering anthem about healing and setting boundaries, while ‘Happy’, released during Mental Health Awareness Month, combined lyrics with a melancholic yet airy sound. Her most recent release, ‘All That Glitters Isn’t Gold’, a reflection on broken trust, has had a strong debut, further demonstrating her ability to turn personal experiences into universally relatable music.
