Kelvin Kusikwenyu, best known as Killer T is a dancehall artist from Harare, Zimbabwe.
Born on 10 January 1990, Killer T was raised in the dusty streets of Mbare in Harare. He lost his parents at a tender age. He attended his primary and secondary at St Peter’s and George Stark schools, respectively.
Killer T is renowned for his gun sound signature ‘Po po po’. His music is sung in his native Shona language. He shot to fame with a song called ‘Makarova Ganaz’ (You beat up a soldier). His music is a reflection of how he grew up in the poor neighborhood of Mbare. His music is inspired by youth life in the ghetto.
In March 2014, Killer T clinched an endorsement deal with fast food outlet, Chicken Inn. The deal saw him featuring on the company’s radio and television commercials. In April 2014, he toured the UK where he was forced to book more performances in London.
On 3 March 2016, he won awards at the Zim-Dancehall Awards held at Long Chen Plaza in Harare. He took home four awards from his seven nominations: Best Album (for Ngoma Ndaimba), Best Male Artist, Best Collaboration (for ‘Vanondibatirana’ with Fungisai) and shared Best Social Message (for ‘Chikorobo’).
