Falana
Bio
Raised by Nigerian parents in Brampton, Canada, Falana’s sound began falling together in her home. Despite describing her parents as “non-musical”, they introduced her to the sounds of Fela Kuti, and King Sunny Adé.
Sade, Maxwell, Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu came later as did Nina Simone, Etta James, and Duke Ellington. She later travelled to Cuba where spent a year, performing, developing, becoming. Now she describes her genre as soul fusion, a blend of jazz, soul, afrobeat, and R&B.
She has covered Fela's 'Lady' and released the 'Things Fall Together' EP. Falana is working on a debut album.
