Madalitso Band

It's been an extraordinary few years for this dance folk duo, who until 2017, hadn't left their native Malawi. The decade spent roaming the streets as a pair, and perfecting their home-made instruments and vibrant playing style, seems to have paid off - since their first performance on an international stage at Sauti Za Busara in Zanzibar 6 years ago, the rollercoaster ride hasn't stopped!

After 5 European tours, with concerts at WOMAD, Roskilde and WOMEX, in April 2023 the band finally put together their first national tour of Malawi - 10 concerts throughout the country. Even with all these performances, the band remains quite unknown both locally and internationally.

There is a hope that 2023 might change things as the band embark upon a four month, 80 concert tour of Europe and the USA, to come back to Africa in October, ready to do more local performances in Malawi and neighbouring countries.
