Blanka Mazimela
Bio
Blanka Mazimela had a natural grasping and progression within the music industry. A self-taught
Music Producer and Deep-House DJ. He has won the Strongbow Do You Know and Viceroy
Makoya Mix competitions judged by Ready D and Black Coffee respectively. These titles were
won by his understanding of how to be in unison with the audience. Sonically traveling with them
to places they wish they had been. He prides himself in saying,
“I have played in every environment you can think of. I am well tested.”
True to his word, he has graced festival stages of Corona Sunset, Bazique, Rocking The Daisies,
Sexy Groovey Love, Kunye and Wolfkop Weekender. A favourite at the Black Coffee Shimmy
Beach (Cabo) Residency in Cape Town. Resident DJ at the iconic Café Caprice in Camps Bay.
Formerly a resident DJ on Mhlobo Wenene. Travelled throughout South Africa, furthest landing his
feet in Polokwane. There isn’t a crowd or environment whose feet won’t be seduced by his
frequency.
Throughout the gigging, he has been working on musical outputs of his own. Releasing his first
single, Phezulu, in 2017 on Gets Physical Music. His debut full length project was a full circle
moment with him being the compiler of Africa Gets Physical Vol. 3, released 11 September 2020,
which included the standout hit, Gcwanini. In December 2021, he released an Angélique Kidjo
approved remix of the classic, Agolo, released by Universal Music. The song has been charting
well on House charts in South Africa since its release.
Today, Blanka's focus remains on his compositions. His melodic odysseys are found on Kunye and
Get Physical. Blanka also remains Head of the SoulCandi Institute of Music, where he compiles,
curates, and lectured the curriculum which is now available at Boston City Campuses across
South Africa.
