Born, Tokelo Moyakhe, Maglera Doe Boy is a rapper from South Africa. He was raised in the Kanana township near Klerksdorp. He made a strong impression with his 2015 debut EP Progression, which was named as one of Hype Magazine’s top 5 underrated mixtapes and EPs.
Maglera Doe Boy is a pioneer of the ‘strata’ genre, which means ‘the streets’. He grew up in an area heavily impacted by gang violence. His music displays a passion for rich storytelling, earning him a plethora of prominent features, such as his debut on Khuli Chana’s ‘All Hail’ featuring Cassper Nyovest, 25K’s ‘Quarter to Six’ and Yanga Chief’s ‘Fort Hare’.
In September 2022, Apple Music selected him as its latest Up Next artist from South Africa. The announcement follows a distribution deal that the artist signed with Universal Music South Africa.
