Kontawa

Kontawa (born Abdu Hamid Said on 12 July 1996) is a Tanzanian rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, model and brand influencer.

Born and raised in Dar es Salaam, Kontawa released his first single ‘Sura ya Baba’ in 2019 which thrust him into the spotlight. His other songs include ‘Moyo’, ‘Mke’, ‘Bastola’, ‘Mwalimu’ and ‘Daktari’.

The musician – who can easily transition between the hip hop, bongo flava and even singeli genres – was named Best Male Upcoming Artist of the Year at the 2023 Tanzania Music Awards.
