Ricky na Marafiki is a 5 piece band playing Africanized Jazz with infusions of
world music, Their musical journey beginning in 2010 in Nairobi, the cosmopolitan capital city of Kenya.
Their arrangements are symphonic with the vocals infusing depth and
emotion into each performance. Their sound is deliberate and reminds us
that we live in an enormous universe filled with wonders and connected with music.
Having hosted numerous live bi-monthly Afrojazz events, Ricky na Marafiki
Band excels at connecting with audiences and taking them on a musical
journey from countryside to urban, delicately fusing high-energy and
danceable rhythms that appeal to young and old alike

This album challenged the norms of Benga music composition and seeks to break away from the mold of traditional music composition and performance. By way of collaboration, Soko Huru – Swahili for Free Market – intends to push Benga music across the global music market thus establishing the Benga genre as the ambassador of Kenyan music on the world scene
