Niniola
Bio
Niniola is a Nigerian singer and songwriter based in Lagos. Born Niniola Apata, the singer attended the University of Lagos where she obtained a degree in Biology Education.
She claims Angelique Kidjo, Dolly Parton, Celine Dion and Beyonce as inspiration. As a child she performed for her peers and in 2013 she entered for the Nigerian talent show MTN Project Fame. Coming in at 3rd place, Niniola has said the experience prepared her for the Nigerian music industry.
Subsequently, she has released the singles ‘Ibadi’, ‘Gbowode,’ Akara Oyibo and ‘Soke’ (2015). Her songs mix both the English and Yoruba languages. She calls her genre ‘afro-house’. In 2016, alongside Eddy Kenzo, she won the All Africa Music Award for Best African Collaboration for their song 'Mbilo Mbilo remix'.
