Aramide
Bio
Aramide (full name Aramide Sarumoh) is a Nigerian singer working in the soul genre. Born to a music-loving family in 1985, her songwriting ability was discovered early. She attended both secondary school and university in Jos, a town that has produced several artists. Some of her influences include Miriam Makeba, Sade, Erykah Badu and Angelique Kidjo.
In 2006, she entered for the talent hunt show Star Quest, where she received a few notices. Two singles ‘I Don’t Mind” and “It’s Over’ received some attention in 2012. Both songs were released by Trybe Records. She left the label in 2014 after her contract expired—in the same year the song ‘Feeling this Feeling’ brought renewed interest to her work.
By 2015 she was signed to Baseline Records and nominated in the Female Artist of the Year category at the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Awards.
