Bongani Mdakane

BIO

Bongani holds an LLB from the University of South Africa, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Drafting and Interpreting Contracts from the University of Johannesburg.

Mdakane served his articles at Spoor & Fisher, a law firm that specialises in Intellectual Property. His legal career and in particular his Intellectual Property Law experience became the perfect conduit for him to obtain exposure to the music business.  The opportunity came in the form of SAMRO, where Mdakane was employed as a Legal Advisor. He subsequently joined Ambitiouz Entertainment as a Legal and Business Affairs Manager, a position in which he gained exposure to the recording and publishing industry. It was also during this period that Mdakane served on the CAPASSO board.

In January 2023, Mdakane founded the law firm Mdakane Attorneys Inc. The firm has its practice in the areas of Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Law, Labour Law and General Litigation.
