Apple Music is celebrating Women’s Month in South Africa by highlighting music from the country’s top female musicians this August.
Local icons like Lady Zamar, Karen Zoid, Shekhinah, Amanda Black, Msaki, Simmy and BET Award winner Sho Madjozi will be in the spotlight this month.
Apple Music also asked the featured musicians to curate their own exclusive female-centric playlists for users to stream and download.
“Music is my first language, no matter where in the world I am," Shekhinah said about her choice of songs. "I chose these songs to represent all the places I’ve been and favourite moments I have lived.”
Amanda Black’s playlist consists of legends who inspired her as a budding musician. “The legends remind me of when I was still dreaming and motivate me to keep going,” she said.
The campaign includes exclusive female playlists Who Runs The World and Top Mzansi Women in Streaming. Apple Music’s leading playlist Mzansi Soul will also feature the top artists in August.
In addition, Apple Music has released a list of the top 10 South African female artists on its streaming service.
