Asa and Timi Dakolo nominated for First COSON Award

The duo P-Square, Omawumi, Orezi and Seyi Shay are also included on the nominee list.

Perhaps in a bid to standout in a country with a number of award shows, COSON has gone for the unusual in its naming of some categories. Rapper MI’s ‘Bullion Van’, Korede Bello’s ‘God Win’ and Simi’s ‘Jamb Question’ are in contention in the Most Uncommon Song category. Harrysong’s highlife hit ‘Reggae Blues’ and Kcee’s ‘Pullover’ complete the category. Best Song, a single award in many award-giving ceremonies, is split into Best Song in Melody and Best Love Song. There is also a Song of Songs category.

Newcomers Kiss Daniels and Lil Kesh compete with established artists like Wizkid, and Don Jazzy and his MAVINS crew on the Hottest Song on the Street category. Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’ and Yemi Alade’s ‘Johnny’ are also in contention for the award.
