Artist-facing music streaming service Audiomack has launched a free online guide called Audiomack Artist Guide, offering musicians another resource to help them navigate the music industry.
The educational platform provides a comprehensive glossary that defines key music industry terms, answers to frequently asked questions from industry experts, and a range of articles to assist creators to analyse various aspects of the music business. Topics discussed include music creation, copyright protection, planning a release, planning tours, digital marketing, budgeting and selling merch, among many others.
“It’s challenging for a new artist to know where to go and who to trust while building a career in music,” Audiomack vice-president of US content Brendan Varan said. “The Audiomack Artist Guide is a free educational resource for artists at every stage of their career.”
The artist guide follows Audiomack’s ranking as the top music streaming app on iOS in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal and Kenya earlier this year. In February 2022, Audiomack launched its Creator App, which the company says has generated more than 100 000 monthly active users (MAUs) in less than three months. The tool enables artists to receive streaming analytics of their music, helping them learn more about their fans’ listening habits, demographics and pinpoint geographical markets where they receive the best streaming engagement.
At the time, Audiomack vice-president of product Charlie Kaplan said “Audiomack’s new Creator app is designed to maximise access for everyone sharing audio, from artists to podcasters and beyond, no matter their means or where they're from. Creators can share their work with the world for free to every listener they can reach with no limits on how much they upload.
Launched in 2012, Audiomack now has more than 20 million MAUs. The audio streaming and discovery platform has played an integral role in helping new African acts such as Omah Lay reach an international audience. In March, Nigerian singer Simi became the first female African act to hit 100 million plays on the streaming platform.
Meanwhile, Audiomack is releasing a series of short-form educational videos titled Artist 101 on its official YouTube channel. Watch the debut video below:
