Sauti Academy will be holding auditions for a one-year artist development programme at Shalom House in Nairobi, Kenya, on 27 April.
Those who cannot make it to the audition venue can send a two-minute video of their performance to Sauti Academy using 071 669 3338 via Whatsapp.
The programme is designed for singers, poets and rappers who are between the ages of 18 and 25. The artist development initiative was first launched in 2010 by Penya Africa, a company that started as a record label before upgrading its services to facilitate the development of young artists in Kenya.
Penya Africa’s artist development programmes are designed to nurture independent talent by inspiring creativity and enhancing both musical and business skills.
The training includes:
- Voice technique.
- Performance coaching.
- Songwriting.
- Event organising.
- Music business workshops.
- Confident stage performance.
Audition requirements
Singers should:
- Be between 18 and 25 years
- Memorise two songs in two different languages
- Be ready to sing live accompanied by a musical instrument of their choice
Successful candidates will be asked to participate in the second round of auditions, which will be announced at a later date.
