Ghana: DJ Boat featured on Apple Music’s September Africa Now DJ Mix

The mix brings together music by artists including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Uncle Waffles, Asake, Omah Lay, Davido, Tems and Tyla, alongside emerging and established acts from across the continent.

“This is strictly a party mix,” DJ Boat told Apple Music. “The mood is high energy and danceable. Regardless of who’s listening to this mix, you will be moving some part of your body throughout the mix.”

The selection includes music associated with major African club, festival and party scenes, while also featuring remixes and collaborations that bring together different regional sounds.

DJ Boat said he wanted the mix to document the sounds currently circulating across African music audiences.

“What I love about our music is that it is always evolving, and I wanted the mix to be a timestamp of where it is at currently. This is a representation of the music you would hear at major African events, festivals, parties, clubs and in most African households. These artists are the culture movers and shakers of our day, the songs are the tunes that are keeping the dance floor hot right now,” he said.

The DJ also highlighted the growing diversity of African music on the international stage, noting the emergence and wider adoption of genres beyond Afrobeats.

“African music continues to mature on the global stage. We continue to show the world the depth of our sound. It feels like we introduced the world to African Music through Afrobeats, and every year, we reveal a different layer with the addition of amapiano, 3-Step, Afro-house and the list goes on,” he said.

Among the tracks included in the mix are Wizkid and Asake’s ‘Alaye’, Tyla’s ‘CHANEL’ and ‘Water’, Asake’s ‘Forgiveness’ and ‘Joha’, Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘UNAVAILABLE (Jacksound Amapiano Remix)’, Uncle Waffles’ ‘ZENZELE’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush (Amapiano Remix)’ and Rema’s ‘Calm Down (Zen Amapiano Remix)’.

The set also includes several tracks featuring or produced by DJ Boat, including ‘Lonely World’ with OliveTheBoy, ‘Goo Kiki’ with Demola and LAW_ZA, and remixes of Joey B and Sarkodie’s ‘Tonga’ and Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’.

DJ Boat said the mix was created with listeners rather than his profile as a DJ in mind.

“This mix was made with love, it is a representation of my love and passion for elevating African Music on a global stage. It was made strictly with the audience in mind. This mix is not about me as a DJ, it’s about giving the people what they want. I am here to serve the Africa Now audience, and you will hear that when you tune in,” he said.
