J Martins, the Nigerian musician, songwriter and producer known for his 2009 monster hit ‘Oyoyo’ followed by successful songs such as ‘Jupa’ and ‘Good or Bad’, returns to the scene with ‘Ife’ (Love) featuring Malian Singer Sidiki Diabaté.
The Afropop sound’s easy flow J Martins is known for is a delight, the delivery is soothing and the Malian feel to it is of important note. ‘Ife’ is performed in the Yoruba language and it looks to put the musician, who has been on a sabbatical for a couple of years, back on the charts.
Sidiki Diabaté is from a lineage of star musicians in his native Mali. He is a kora player, hip hop musician and music producer from Bamako. He is also the son of renowned kora player Toumani Diabaté and grandson of Sidiki Diabaté.
The collaboration of African artists is a phenomenon that is growing and encouraging, as fans crave music beyond their immediate environment, tapping into the rich African melody that solidifies the togetherness of people through music as a universal language.
