Lojay inks deal with Coca-Cola Nigeria
Nigerian singer Lojay has inked an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola Nigeria.
The musician confirmed the news to his over 400 000 Instagram followers on Thursday. Lojay’s role as ambassador makes him the latest local face of the beverage brand, participating in various advertising campaigns to promote the new Wozzaah flavour.
“It’s official!” Lojay posted, sharing a video of himself holding a bottle of the new flavour. “Lolo x @cocacola_ng, a collaboration that celebrates Coca-Cola #Wozzaah, a new flavour experience inspired by Africa’s creativity.”
Days prior, in a teaser video posted to social media, Lojay had asked: “If you had to ask what Africa tastes like, what would your answer be?”
Coca-Cola refers to Wozzaah as a new limited-edition creation “inspired by Africa’s creativity,” promising a “tropical blaze flavoured taste adventure.”
Best known for songs like ‘Monalisa’, Lojay is behind 2021’s LV N ATTN EP alongside producer Sarz, and 2023’s Gangster Romantic collection.
In November last year, Coca-Cola announced Asake, Ayra Starr, Rema, BNXN and Mayorkun as brand ambassadors. The company also debuted its Coke Studio in Lagos.
According to Coca-Cola Nigeria marketing director Yusuf Murtala, Coke Studio serves as a “sonic foundry, bringing together artists from various genres, backgrounds, and styles to create a harmonious experience that resonates with a diverse audience. This shift in approach demonstrates Coca-Cola’s commitment to exploring new avenues of artist engagement and embracing the dynamic landscape of the music industry.”
Over the years, rival beverage brand Pepsi has secured the signatures of Afrobeats stars like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Rema. Pepsi is also behind the launch of the Pepsi Music Academy, partnering with American distribution company and record label EMPIRE to train and educate newcomers in the Nigerian music industry on essential topics like legal, marketing, and A&R, with support from notable producers such as Masterkraft and Sarz.
