Mixcloud bolsters Live platform with ticketing for livestreams

Audio streaming service Mixcloud on 6 October announced that it had added a ticketing feature to its Live platform.
In April, Mixcloud launched its livestreaming service, which aims to help DJs and artists stream live audio or video without worrying about copyright takedowns.
The new ticketing tool offers artists an alternative way to generate income from their live streams. All ticketed events will be broadcast three times and ticket holders can watch any show from any location.
“Launching Tickets is our next step in helping artists and creators generate new income and building out a full-stack music platform, with creators at the core," CEO Nico Perez said. "With the introduction of live ticketed streams on Mixcloud, we are combining what was once the three distinct music industries of radio, live concerts, and streaming, into a single digital platform."
The feature will launch with a series of shows from Flying Lotus’ Halloween Special concert on 31 October. Other artists that will be testing the new tool include Róisín Murphy and Leon Vynehall, among others.
Last month, Mixcloud introduced a new live archiving functionality, which allows creators to save an audio archive of their broadcasted streams to their profile so that fans can listen again. The service is now available for all Mixcloud Pro members, and works with all popular streaming tools such as OBS, Streamlabs, and Restream.
