Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Kemuel has released his sophomore EP Clouds, which is now available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
The project, comprising seven tracks, combines R&B, pop and Afrobeats, resulting in “a glorious listening experience that oscillates between melancholic melodies of heartbreak and despair, and vibrant anthems of love, motivation and expression,” the artist’s team said.
“Inspired by everything he has learnt and the transformative experiences he has embraced since he moved from his hometown in Port Harcourt to Lagos, the Afrobeats capital of the world, to pursue his dreams of becoming a musician, Clouds is a window into Kemuel’s soul, offering a track for every mood and moment, whether it’s the uplifting energy of ‘Polo’, the contemplative vibes of ‘Focus’ or the introspective calm of ‘GLNT’.”
The opening track, ‘Alone’, sets a tone of introspective solitude while ‘234’ weaves a narrative of longing and unrequited love, utilising Nigeria’s country code as a symbol of an unreachable connection.
The EP takes a spirited turn with the amapiano-influenced ‘Polo’. On ‘GLNT’, Kemuel offers a take on battling internal demons and finding hope, while ‘Find’ delves into the heartache of lost love. ‘Water’, meanwhile, portrays the depth of genuine connections, contrasting fleeting encounters with the desire for something deeper.
Closing out the EP is ‘Focus’, which serves as a motivational reminder to persevere through distractions and hardships, echoing the universal journey towards achieving one’s dreams.
Kemuel is also behind the Escape EP and has collaborated with big names like Olamide and DJ Spinall.
