Nigerian Afrobeats act Oxlade has dropped his debut album, Oxlade From Africa, which is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
According to a statement, the 16-track project, which follows multiple EPs, aligns with the singer’s “desire to represent not just [his hometown of] Surulere, Lagos, or Nigeria, but the entire continent – honouring Africa’s elegance and beauty through music, fashion and imagery
Oxlade from Africa listens as a fusion of Afrobeats, Afro-swing, amapiano, coupé-décalé and R&B. A global representation of Africa featuring artists from the continent, the diaspora and the Caribbean, it was heralded by singles like ‘Katigori’, ‘Intoxycated’, ‘Piano’, ‘Arabambi’ and ‘IFA’.
Thematically, the project, which features fellow Nigerian artists Flavour, Wande Coal, Ojahbee and Tomi Owó, Ghana’s Sarkodie, Uganda’s Bobi Wine, DRC’s Fally Ipupa, UK act Dave and Jamaican singer Popcaan, explores Oxlade’s journey and primary dimensions of love, pain, hustle and joy.
Oxlade, now a popular act across Africa, boasts a double platinum certification for ‘Ku Lo Sa’ in Switzerland and platinum certifications in Canada, France, and Germany. He has also secured post-humous collaborations with legendary artists like Bob Marley and Whitney Houston.
Following the album’s release, Oxlade will be on the road across North America from 2 October, including stops in major cities such as Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans.
