Open call: 2027 FuTopia festival in Zanzibar

The festival, organised by Busara Promotions, brings together music, art, culture, ideas, wellbeing and sustainable living. Its second edition attracted 3 700 people over two days and featured contributors from Tanzania and Zanzibar, South Africa, Burundi, Chile, Canada, Morocco and Mexico.

Artists who have performed or contributed to previous editions include Kenyan musician Bensoul, Tanzanian artist Rosa Ree, Burundian performer Vania Ice, South African DJ LAG and Bonj, Chilean collective Playroots, and Mexican group La Negra Mexa Y Las Cumbiancheras.

For the 2027 edition, FuTopia is seeking applications from:

• Dancers
• Poets
• Storytellers
• Performers
• Multidisciplinary artists
• Interactive creators

The festival said it is particularly interested in artists who engage audiences, experiment with new ideas and create participatory experiences.

“We are grateful to everyone who has been part of the FuTopia journey so far,” Busara Promotions managing director Lorenz Herrmann said. “The artists, audiences, partners, volunteers and communities have all helped shape what the festival is becoming. For our third edition, we want to continue creating space for new voices, new ideas and meaningful experiences.”
