SA: Africa Rising Music Conference announces 2023 artist line-up
The organisers of the Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) have unveiled the list of acts who will perform at the 2023 edition of the event at Hallmark House Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 23 and 24 May.
The conference aims to showcase the diverse and dynamic music scene in Africa and provide a platform for music industry players to network, build bridges and collaborate.
Powered by liqueur brand Jägermeister, the line-up will be headlined by South African amapiano and Afro-house singer Boohle. She will be joined by local electronic artists Deep Aztec, Chronicle Deep, Black Villain, Rose Bonica and DJ Kmat as well as El Mukuka (Zambia), Okvsho (Switzerland) and Megatronic (UK).
“This year’s conference is set to be a vibrant and exciting celebration of African music with a special focus on Zambia, providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and connect with industry experts,” the organisers said. “ARMC will have a diverse mix of attendees, including both local and international delegates.
“The conference will also highlight the contributions of Berlin Music Commission, whose partnership is set to infuse a thrilling aspect to the event and offer valuable perspectives to all attendees in a quest to build bridges between Africa and Europe.”
Following last year’s success and support from Mixmag and Trace Southern Africa, the 2023 conference will feature key EDM players, including one of Germany’s oldest electronic music publications, Groove Mag, and the Association for Electronic Music.
Apart from the performances, the event will recognise and celebrate five female ambassadors who are making a significant impact within their respective fields. They are DJ and cultural producer Megatronic (Dubai/UK) as well as artists Fundi Mbambani (South Africa), Naimah Global (South Africa), Namakau Star (South Africa) and Phelisa Magoqoza (South Africa). The event will highlight their influence and impact on various communities and movements.
ARMC will also feature panel discussions, keynotes and workshops.
