South African musician AKA has released the video for his song ‘Energy’ featuring Gemini Major. The video debuted on YouTube on Wednesday night.
This is the second video from his recent triple-single release, and follows last week’s unveiling of the visuals for ‘Cross My Heart’.
The musician’s fans have been demanding the 'Energy' video since the release of the single. Ahead of the release, AKA teased his followers on Twitter with pictures and a snippet of the footage taken from the scene. “6pm tomorrow #EnergyVid goes live on akaworldwide vevo. Lock in!” AKA wrote.
In the video, which was shot by AKA and his friends, the 'Fela In Versace' hitmaker and the Malawian-born Gemini Major take a road trip to a cinematic mountain. The video features editing techniques like distortion and pace changes, and is rendered in sepia to accentuate the African grassland.
With 'Cross My Heart' and 'Energy' released in two consecutive weeks, the final video of the trilogy, ‘Monument’, will most likely drop next week.
Meanwhile, AKA has received a 2020 South African Music Award nomination for ‘Jika’ featuring Yanga Chief in the Music Video of the Year and Record of the Year categories. The SAMAs will be broadcast from 3 to 7 August.
