South Africa’s DJ Emotionz has signed a recording deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
The Mpumalanga-born music producer and radio host joins rapper 25K who signed with the label in June.
The announcement comes ahead of his upcoming debut EP Champions League, which is available for pre-order.
“Finally I have now joined the big Sony Music family,” DJ Emotionz said. “This is the beginning of so many great things to come. I am looking forward to working with the whole big family and we’re going to make some magic.”
He wrote on social media: “Proud to announce my partnership with @sonymusicafrica. ‘Messiah’ is dropping on 20 August and Champions League EP is available on pre-order. I really can’t wait to share this piece of work with you. After 10 years in the music game, I drop my first EP.”
Sony Music Entertainment Africa A&R director Spiro Damaskinos said: “We are really excited to have Emotionz on board. In his case it was very simple because when [he] played us his music we were all really excited. Welcome to the Sony Music family, we definitely look forward to working with you.”
DJ Emotionz’s passion for music began at an early age. He draws inspiration from artists like Louie Vega, DJ Kent, Frankie Knuckles and Hugh Masekela.
