SA: Listen to Mafikizolo’s Thandolwethu

The single is off the band’s upcoming album and is available for streaming and download here. The song is a celebration of love between two people who never gave up on each other.

“Music is a universal language, and as a band we figured that the only way to stay on top is through collaboration,” Mafikizolo member Theo Kgosinkwe said. “‘Thandolwethu is another successful collabo tale as it is co-written by the amazing artist and song writer Msaki. Working with Msaki has been such a blessing, she is a gifted artist and an exceptional writer.”

The song is a follow up of ‘Ngeke Balunge’, another single off the upcoming album. In an exclusive interview with Music In Africa last year, Kgosinkwe said the single was a preparation to the release of the album adding that they worked with various artists on the project.

“This single is a warm up ahead of the album release, we are already working on that, some songs are done and some are not,” he said. “You can look forward to something like ten tracks on the album. We have amazing collaborations on the album. There is a song with Wizkid, we also featured Harmonize (Tanzania), Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe), Yemi Alade (Nigeria) and Syleena Johnson (US). We currently making sure that we have a strong album for next year.”

Mafikizolo is known for its strong Afrobeat sounds rooted signature and the ability to reinvent themselves by constantly collaborating with a young generation artists including Wizkid (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), DJ Maphorisa (South Afruica), Tresor (South Africa), May D (Nigeria), Kly (South Africa) and Gemini Major (Malawi).

The duo is celebrating 23 years in the music industry and has won several awards and performed at big events in the country and around the continent. Mafikizolo has so far released such albums as Mafikizolo, Music Revolution, Gate Crashers, Sibongile, Kwela, Van Toeka Af, Six Mabone, Reunited and 20.
