South African singer and songwriter MaWhoo has returned with a new single titled ‘Bengicela’. Featuring collaborators GL_Ceejay, Thukuthela, and producer Jazzworx, the track blends amapiano rhythms with deeply spiritual themes.
At its heart, ‘Bengicela’ is a heartfelt plea for hope, guidance, and deliverance. Carried by MaWhoo’s distinctive, ethereal vocals, the song echoes the silent cries of those navigating uncertainty, anchoring its message in sincerity and faith.
MaWhoo reunites with GL_Ceejay and Thukuthela on this release, both of whom contribute verses that are rich with melodic textures. Jazzworx’s production ties the piece together with a mesmerising 3-Step rhythm that allows both movement and meaning to coexist.
Born Thandeka Nontobeko Ngema in the KwaZulu-Natal town of Eshowe, MaWhoo has steadily carved out a niche for herself in South Africa’s music scene. Since her breakout single ‘Umshado’ featuring Heavy-K, she has built a reputation for infusing her work with both vulnerability and strength. Her music bridges the sacred and the sonic — a quality that shines through once again on ‘Bengicela’.
Bengicela is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms.
