14 Oct 2022 - 12:54
South African experimental band Sun Xa Experiment and local southern rock outfit The Black Cat Bones will be featured in the next edition of the Jim Beam Welcome Sessions at Railways Café in Pretoria on 28 October. Joining the two acts will be rapper PHFAT and garage duo Make-Overs.
Music In Africa is giving away two double tickets to the gig. More information on how to win the tickets is available here.
The 2022 Welcome Sessions series kicked off in June and will run until December, with the previous instalment also taking place in Pretoria at the Sowaar Bar on 7 October with Morena Leraba and The Tazers.
The concert series is designed to connect fans and celebrate the unrivalled power of live music by presenting several intimate live events and an exclusive content series – which will all culminate in the first-ever Welcome Sessions Live Concert at the Jim Beam Kentucky distillery in the US.
At the launch of the campaign, Jim Beam’s vice-president of global brand, Veronique Mura, said: “As a brand that has brought people together over bourbon for centuries, we recognise the power of music to connect and inspire. As music fans emerge into this new world, their need to reconnect and reunite with the communities around them is greater than ever. With the latest evolution of our Welcome Sessions campaign, we’re excited to double down on our promise to music fans to create unique shared experiences that bring us closer together.”
Welcome Sessions began with intimate hometown concert featuring Muse at The Cavern Club in Exeter, UK, hosting the band’s loyal fans and friends. It also featured the premiere of a documentary series that captures untold stories of the band’s career journey alongside its community of fans. New episodes are being released on the YouTube channel and Rolling Stone every month.
