TikTok teams up with Apple Music for full-song playback, listening parties
17 Feb 2026 - 15:28
TikTok has partnered with Apple Music to pilot two new features in the short-form video app, according to preliminary reports. The developments, currently in beta, include the ability for users to play full-length songs directly in TikTok and a Listening Party feature that enables fans to listen to music together in real time.
The “Play Full Song” function, which relies on Apple’s MusicKit framework, allows TikTok users to stream complete tracks within the app without leaving the platform. Users must have an Apple Music subscription to access the feature, which prominently displays the label “From Apple Music,” indicating that royalties and licensing are handled by the streaming service.
Selected regions are currently testing the features, with the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union not yet included. The Listening Party function, inspired by collaborative streaming platforms such as the former Turntable.fm, aims to create a community environment for fans to experience music together.
It is unclear when the features will see a wider rollout, or whether the partnership could become a model for similar integrations between other digital service providers and social media platforms.
Apple and TikTok have previously collaborated, first in 2023 to allow users to save songs discovered on TikTok to Apple Music libraries, and later in 2024 to enable direct sharing of Apple Music tracks to the app.
On the back of Apple Music’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny, the service is also offering a three-month free trial to new subscribers, available until 24 February.
