Bio
Vuyo Brown is a Zimbabwean Singer, Songwriter, and Contemporary Musician (born Nokufeza Vuyolethu Ngwenya 30 January 1992). Not boxed in by a particular sound, Vuyo Brown proudly embraces the title of a multi-genre artist. Her passion lies in exploring the essence of God through her art, with a mission to introducing her listeners to a reality outside their own and leaving them revived and wholesome.
Vuyo Brown's musical journey began in childhood, with her passion for singing blossoming at a young age. By the time she was 9, she delved into experimenting with various instruments, setting the stage for her extraordinary musical exploration. It was her breakout single, "Thula Wazi" released in 2019, that propelled Vuyo to new heights. This inspiring anthem of hope resonated deeply, topping the charts on Skyzmetro FM and Khulumani FM for several weeks. It also secured a spot in the Top 10 on the ZiFM Top 40 Chart, captivating audiences across the nation. The music video continues to captivate viewers regionally on channels like Trace Africa.
As a songwriter and vocalist Vuyo Brown increasingly exhibits her versatility through musical collaborations: “I Need You” an up-tempo Amapiano song by South African artist Speedy , Smile by contemporary hip-hop producer Rayo Beats and “Ndiyabulela” an Afro house song by Sifiso M from Swaziland, Love Me Now an EDM track by Spanish DJ and producer La Santa and Biz'abanye by Brazil's Sparrow&Barbossa.
In recent years Vuyo Brown's music and sound has broken regional boundaries receiving airplay and recognition across Southern and East Africa.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Vuyo Brown is deeply committed to contributing to the creative and cultural industries. She served as a mentor for the "Voice 2 Rep" competition (which nurtures emerging talent) in her country for two years and the Musicable Project under POVO Afrika (which works with people with disabilities). Additionally, she works as a songwriter and vocal director, lending her expertise to various artists and musical groups while mentoring aspiring musicians.
