Khazozo

Bio

Khazozo, whose real name is Cebolenkosi Bongani Makhaza, has refused to let blindness hinder his path in life. His remarkable journey began at the age of 2 when he lost his eyesight, but instead of succumbing to darkness, he found his beacon of hope and refuge in music. Khazozo attributes his musical career's inception to his mother, who recognized his potential.

At a young age, Khazozo was enrolled in a blind music school, where he received comprehensive training in singing and playing the guitar. He embraced life's experiences and the people he encountered as his muse, using them to craft songs that resonated with countless listeners.

Despite his disability, Khazozo doesn't view blindness as his greatest challenge. Instead, he faces the discouragement of being exploited by event organizers. Nevertheless, he has overcome these obstacles to perform both locally and beyond his hometown. He's had the privilege of sharing the stage with renowned artists like Glen Jones and Oletta Adams.

Khazozo's musical journey has taken him to significant events such as KING GOODWILL ZWELITHINI's Birthday gala dinner, MNINI DAM JAZZ FESTIVAL @ MGABABA, and virtual live concerts for disabled artists, including legends like Babsy Mlangeni and the late Steve Kekana at the "We Can Arts Festival." He's also been invited to perform at the Amajuba Film Festival (AFF) and received a lifetime achievement award from Amajuba District Municipality within the arts and culture theme. Khazozo's story is one of resilience, talent, and an unwavering passion for music.
