Santo Black

Bio

Santo Black hails from Kajokeji county, the present Yei River State in South Sudan. His love for music and dancing manifested at an early age. The free style rapper and vocalist began singing in a church choir while living in Uganda. In 2003, he and his friend Isaac Duku a.k.a Zaker formed their first music group: TheUniqueGuyzGroup' (UGG) of about ten members. With the group Santo Black entertained students during fellowships, before and after prayers. However, the crew never lasted long. It broke up when Santo moved to the city to pursue further education.

on his return to Kajokeji in 2009 Santo revived the group under the name Mango Lane Music. In December 2013, under Tong Ping Studios he recorded two songs in one day ('Pretty Little Baby', 'Just Call Me') and then went on to work with Swamp studios in Munuki where he recorded a gospel collabo with the Hardlyfe Avenue Stars.

He had plans to release an album but the political unrest in the country held him back. Santo Black has up to now shot no video. He says the economic crisis in the country has affected his plans. The small audience that hip hop attracts within South Sudan also does not help matters. Nevertheless he plans to shoot about 6 videos within the country and abroad and also record his second album (Speak to Us/ Jambi Ko Yii).
