Open call: KUMISA artist management and publishing masterclasses in SA

KUMISA says the initiative was born out of the need to increase the number of KZN artists managers and music publishers that will prioritise serving KZN artists and result in them being counted amongst other A-list artists across Africa.

Applicants should submit:

• Fully completed KUMISA masterclass application form.
• Profile/CV.
• A one-page motivational letter outlining why applicants must be considered for the programme.
• Certified copy of identity document/passport document.
• ID size recent photo of the applicant.
• Documents must be emailed, couriered or dropped off at 114 Bulwer, Glenwood, Durban, South Africa or via email at [email protected] before 31 January at 4 pm.

Requirements

• Applicants must be KUMISA members and reside in KZN.
• Applicants must have matriculated.
• Applicants must have clients that they service (already managing at least one artist or have signed an artist as a publisher).
• The shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a one-on-one interview with the mentor as part of the final selection.
• Applicants can only select one masterclass of interest.
• Those who qualify for these artist management and music publishing masterclasses will be required to attend the masterclasses for two days a month for 10 months.

NOTE: Due to the anticipated volume of applications, it is not possible for KUMISA to acknowledge all applications received and only those who are short-listed and interviewed will be notified of the outcome of their applications. Applicants who don't hear from KUMISA until 28 February should consider their applications unsuccessful.

“Music defines and enriches our lives, whether through recording, live performance, downloaded, streaming, sampled, remixed, used in the film or television and the business of creating, protecting and promoting songs/music composition is the business of music publishing,” KUMISA said.
