English musician, activist and actor, Sting will perform at the SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria and the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on 22 and 25 March, respectively.
The 17-time Grammy Award-winning artist's performance is part of his STING 3.0 Tour, presented by Cherrytree Music Company and Big Concerts. Sting will be accompanied by guitarist and long-time collaborator, Dominic Miller, and drummer Chris Maas (Mumford & Sons, Maggie Rogers).
Sting will perform the most electrifying hits from his timeless discography. Known for his groundbreaking work as a solo artist and as the front man and songwriter in the seminal group The Police, Sting has consistently pushed the boundaries of musical innovation throughout his illustrious career. The tour represents a new dynamic era showcasing selections from his vast catalogue through the urgent lens of a tight three-piece combo and inspired his new song, ‘I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)’ released on 5 September via Cherrytree Music Company/Interscope Records.
Sting boasts an illustrious career marked by 100 million albums sold worldwide. As a solo artist, he has established himself as a unique voice in music. His creative pursuits extend beyond music to include composing, singing, songwriting, acting, and writing. His accolades include a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations, a Tony nomination, and Kennedy Centre Honours. Sting’s commitment to human rights and environmental causes is evident in his support for organisations like the Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International, and Live Aid. In 1989, he co-founded the Rainforest Fund with his wife Trudie Styler to safeguard rainforests and indigenous communities, reflecting his art’s universal appeal and impact.
Tickets to the two shows will go on sale via Ticket Master from 13 September, with the Discovery Bank pre-sale beginning on 11 September.
