Afropolitan Vibes to host Reminisce, ‘Blitz’, Megaloh and Tesh Carter
14 Sep 2016 - 13:05
Organisers of the monthly Lagos concert Afropolitan Vibes have announced that Nigerian rapper, Reminisce will be gracing their stage. His headline performance will take place on Friday 16 September
Reminisce’s compatriot Tesh Carter, Dutch-Nigerian artist Megaloh, and Ghanaian-American artist Blitz the Ambassador complete what is mostly an all hip hop line up for September.
The foursome succeeds rapper Ycee and Maka, both of whom performed at the August edition of the concert. Both the concert organisers and audience will be hoping for better weather after a downpour delayed that concert, causing the absence of Black Magic, one of the scheduled artists for August.
Reminisce has just released his fourth album, El-Hadj. It follows Book of Rap Stories (2012), Alaga Ibile (2013), and Baba Hafusa (2015). The album features guest artists including frequent collaborator Olamide, Mr Eazi, Solidstar, 2Baba and 9ice.
Megaloh, whose real name is Uchenna van Capelleveen, has released three solo studio albums: In the Game (2005), Finally Infinity (2013) and 2016’s Rainmaker.
Blitz the Ambassador was born in Accra, Ghana. His talent was spotted by the famous Ghanaian producer, Hammer of the Last Two. After recording a verse with Hammer, Blitz received a Ghana Music Awards. He soon moved to the US for schooling. There, he honed his musical skill as he studied, releasing several EPs and a handful of albums.
Tesh Carter was born in eastern Nigeria. In 2012, she released the single ‘In the Air’ under the Capital Hill record label. Since then she has released several singles including ‘Kilofe’.
As usual at the Afropolitan Vibes concert, the Bantu band, fronted by Ade Bantu, will also play live at the concert.
Tickets to the Afropolitan Vibes concert cost 1500 naira ($5). Venue: Freedom Park, Lagos Island.
