Nigerian act Niniola has been announced as one of the headliners of this year’s Gidi Culture Festival.
The festival will take place on 20 April at Landmark Beach Front, Victoria Island, in Lagos.
By performing at the festival this year, Niniola will follow such acts as Wizkid, 2Baba and Show Dem Camp, all of whom graced the Gidi Culture Festival stage in 2018.
For this edition, reggae-dancehall act Patoranking, celebrity disc jockey DJ Neptune and upcoming act Teni the Entertainer will join the Afro-house act, who last year scored a hit with ‘Bana’. Also expected to perform are Wande Coal, LAX, Zlatan and Blaqbonez.
“We are excited by the sheer diversity of the acts we’re announcing this year, it’s going to be a hell of a show,” said Chin Okeke, the festival’s co-founder. “This year will see a return to our roots of promoting the future of African music, while many acts that have grown in leaps and bounds since the last time they graced the Gidi Fest stage [will return]. Expect a beautifully curated experience with a big focus on the culture around the music.”
The festival, which has enjoyed the participation of the Lagos state government will see the partnership continue at this year’s edition.
“The Lagos state government is happy to endorse and be associated with the Gidi Culture Festival for six consecutive years,” said Steve Ayorinde, the state’s commissioner for tourism, arts and culture.
“The festival has been consistent with aligning with the mandate of the state’s ministry of tourism, arts and culture to use the musical arts and the creative energy of our teeming youths to further promote the image of our state as a prime destination and powerhouse of creative economy.”
Tickets to the event are available via the Gidi Fest official website.
