Wizkid drops new single Bad To Me

The track, published by Starboy/RCA, is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.

The amapiano-leaning track, co-produced by P2J and Sammy Soso, arrives on the heels of his recent headlining performance at the Rolling Loud Festival in Toronto, Canada. It finds its author in the throes of carnal affection  –  a fixture in Wizkid’s music over the years.

Since Wizkid’s Made In Lagos album in 2020, the musician has come into renewed global fame, particularly off the international success of the Tems-assisted focus single ‘Essence’, which has since been updated with a fresh verse from Canadian popstar Justin Bieber. The song, which has won multiple awards, cracked the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2021 and went gold in the UK last week. In December, ‘Essence’ made it onto Barack Obama’s Spotify playlist.

Though ‘Bad To Me’ is Wizkid’s first solo release in a while, the singer has appeared on works of fellow global stars in the past year, notably on fellow Afrobeats star Burna Boy’s ‘B. d’Or’ and US singer Chris Brown’s new single ‘Call Me Every Day’.

Wizkid is due to release his fifth studio album More Love Less Ego later this year. Announcing the project weeks ago, the artist said: “I made this one with a lot of love. Special thanks to everyone that helped me put this together. You all got a special place in my heart.”
