MatchStick - The Flame Source

⦁ Emmanuel Motsepa (Artist name: MATCHSTICK-THE FLAME SOURCE) was born in Tembisa, South Africa in 1993.

⦁ He was raised in Ivory Park ext.2 where he spent most of his childhood playing soccer and later introduced to the art of Rap and Music Production which he is now locally known for by his community where he often hosts Hip Hop Sessions outside his house and by his steadily growing fan base.

⦁ Having played for the Kosta Papic Football Academy(PFA) which had crashed due to sponsorship problems, Matchstick has since then devoted his time and hard work to the music industry.

⦁ After completing his matric in 2011, he then decided to take a step towards his dream by enrolling at Boston and completing the Soul Candi Programme of Digital Music Composition and Production in Johannesburg.

⦁ Willing to learn more about the craft, in 2013 he then went to the Academy of Sound Engineering to get a diploma in Sound Engineering where he studied with the likes of “Lunatic”(Caracara/Cash Time Producer),”Dj Doowap” and “Priddy Ugly”, but unfortunately dropped out due to typical financial problems faced by youth from the township.

⦁ Refusing to give up on his dreams, Matchstick then proceeded to use his natural talent along with what he had already learnt to independently produce and record a number of singles for himself and other upcoming artists.

⦁ He then made his masterpiece so far which is the FLAG TRAP Mixtape which has local youngsters and elders singing along to his hit song “HOLA MAJITA” .

⦁ Matchstick has also helped other artists’ craft as he has produced hits such as M.T –Vernacular MC’s no.1 track on Metro FM titled “Trap Makoya” ,produced and featured “One Mic” TV show battle winner’s Benny P on hit track “Heaven On Earth” and produced and featured yet another “One Mic” battle MC Touch on their track “Nombolo”.

⦁ The Flame Source is definitely a producer and Artist to look out for as he is now being played on a number of community radio stations such as VOT FM(Voice Of Tembisa) and Alex FM just to name a few.

⦁ Matchstick started producing for himself and upcoming artists. He has worked with artists such as One MIC TV show, Benny P. M.T and MC Touch.

⦁ The mainstream should simply prepare the coronation of this young king as his music is world class and it’s only getting better with time, he still resides in Ivory Park Midrand where he continues to work independently in his own home workspace while murking any show he hits up as if it’s his last.
