Ghana: Okyeame Kwame tackles repatriation on Come Home

The song was released on 9 September and features Jamaican reggae singer Sizzla Kalonji. It was produced by veteran Ghanaian producer Zapp Mallet and its video was made by Minds 2 Ink Animation Studios.

Recorded in 2016, ‘Come Home’ is themed around the 2019 Year of Return campaign championed by Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo. It encourages the African diaspora to return to the continent and contribute toward its advancement. It follows his recent single 'Kpa' and 2019's Made in Ghana album.

"In these exciting times, we feel it is right to invite our brothers and sisters in the diaspora to come home so we build Africa together,” Okyeame Kwame said.

Born Kwame Nsiah-Apau, Okyeame Kwame's other solo albums include The Versatile Show, Manwensem (My Poetry), Successful and Move It Chaleh! Over his career, he has received numerous awards including multiple trophies at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, a 2017 Pan-Africanism Award from the Interkulturelles Migranten Integrations Center in Germany, and the US President's Volunteer Service Award for his campaign against hepatitis B in Ghana.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Ghana Tourism Authority unveiled the seven pillars of Beyond the Return, a follow-up to the Year of Return campaign, which commemorated the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first African slaves in Jamestown, Virginia.
