Call for applications: MultiChoice Talent Factory
MultiChoice has announced a call for submissions ahead of the 2019 edition of the Multichoice Talent Factory.
Graduates from the first edition have gone on to music shows such as Coke Studio in Kenya and Zed Top 10 in Zambia as well as Nigerian TV dramas Battleground, The Johnsons and Tinsel.
"[On] the occasion of Africa Month, we’re launching a call to entry for the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy class of 2019," the entertainment outfit said in a statement.
"We’re recruiting aspiring African talent – that’s you – to gain theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in cinematography, film editing, audio production and storytelling. Sixty talented students from 13 African countries will get the chance to hone their film and television production skills alongside industry greats."
This year, the programme is after 60 aspiring film and TV creatives to take up space at a year-long and fully funded programme at three academy hubs in Zambia, Kenya and Nigeria, as headed by film professionals Berry Lwando, Njoki Muhoho and Femi Odugbemi, respectively.
Students will receive an opportunity to learn directly from experts and work on live sets of local TV productions and create work to be aired on Multichoice channels.
Geographical eligibility
Successful candidates will be from:
West Africa: Nigeria, Ghana.
East Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania.
Southern Africa: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Angola, Mozambique.
How to apply
Interested candidates need to:
- Register on the MTF Academy website at multichoicetalentfactory.com.
- Correctly and fully complete the online application form.
- Write an online a motivation letter.
- Collate and electronically submit a curriculum vitae with contactable references and/or a certified copy of academic transcripts or certificate from a tertiary institution.
- Provide other documents specified by MultiChoice.
- Submit an application by the deadline of 14 June.
The network said in a statement that this edition would feature a novelty. "As part of MultiChoice Africa’s investment in growing Africa’s creative industries into vibrant economies, MTF in 2019 has extended its commitment by introducing the MTF Masterclass series, aimed at upskilling industry professionals by offering exclusive access to practical, expert-led industry skills workshops in various counties."
