Call for applications: School of Participation programme in Austria
Kunstlabor Graz in Austria is accepting application from artists and creative practitioners for this year's international School of Participation programme from 1 to 8 August.
Participants will meet and interact with creative practitioners from across Europe and explore artistic strategies, tactics and methods of community art in urban space. They will also gain new experiences and share their art practice.
“In recent decades, cities have undergone dramatic social, economic and cultural changes, triggering debates about the design and the use of urban space,” Kunstlabor Graz said. “For one week, you will involve yourself with other practitioners in an artistic research process on topics of urban development, gentrification, living together, social segregation and displacement.
“In different formations, framed by artistic facilitators, we are going to find out how people living in Graz (and elsewhere) experience those changes and how they would create urban spaces if they were asked to bring in their ideas.”
The workshops will cover the following techniques:
- Soundscapes (city sounds, voices and audio editing).
- Text, dramaturgy and performance.
- Photography and video.
- Stage photography and social-historical topics.
- Costume and stage design.
Note: Participants can select only up to two techniques.
Interested individuals should send their CV and a brief personal statement, including their area of interest and motivation, to sop@uni-t.org by 10 June.
The School of Participation programme is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
