13 May 2020 - 12:32
The winner of this year's AfriMusic Song Contest, Dhortune ThatOndoBo, performed at the Eurostream 2020 grand finale at the weekend.
The virtual Eurostream 2020 event replaced the Eurovision Song Contest, which was cancelled following the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Eurostream 2020 has attracted fans from many countries across Europe, the US, Australia, Asia and Africa,” the AfriMusic Song Contest organisers said. “Showcasing our 2020 winner on a worldwide digital platform that has such a mammoth reach was a real proud moment for Dhortune, Nigerians and all Africans across the continent.
“Many Eurovision fans were so enlightened and excited to watch the music that Dhortune prepared for the world and the live comments from the audience during Dhortune’s performance.”
Dhortune performed two songs, ‘Milegbe’ and ‘YÈMI’, the track that earned him the 2020 AfriMusic Song Contest title.
Meanwhile, the organisers of AfriMusic Song Contest are calling on artists to preregister for the compeition, which will open soon. AfriMusic Song Contest said further announcements regarding registration will be made on social media.
