The Birds
Bio
Formed in Bagamoyo Tanzania in 2022, THE BIRDS is a dynamic six-piece band united by a shared passion for music and community. Hailing from different cities, these friends came together to blend their diverse talents and deliver vibrant, uplifting sounds that resonate across generations. With their infectious energy and youthful spirit, they bring powerful messages of peace and unity to every stage and street corner they reach.
THE BIRDS’ signature sound is a rich fusion of Afro reggae, pop, hip-hop, and blues — a genrebending mix that reflects both their roots and their vision. The band’s name pays homage to their individual nicknames: Sparrow, Vulture, Blue Jay, Dove, Kasuku (Parrot), and Woodpecker — a symbolic flock flying in harmony.
Despite being a relatively new group, THE BIRDS has already made notable strides, performing at events such as the Africulture Summer Arts Festival (2023 and 2024) and Wikiendi Live at Nafasi Art Space (2024). In January 2025, they took a bold step by organizing their debut concert, Beningi, marking the official start of their musical journey. With Beningi, they announced to the world that a new flock has taken flight — ready to set every stage ablaze.
