BIO

Masterkraft (real name, Sunny Nweke) is a Nigerian producer. Born in Ajegunle, Lagos, he attended Festac Grammar School in Lagos. He wanted to be an accountant and then changed his mind to music but claims it was difficult to find a school teaching music so he decided to make some money producing beats.

Professionally, he began by playing the keyboard for different bands. At that point he worked with Gospel artists including Tim Godfrey and The Xtreme Crew, Sammie Okposo and Asu Ekiye. His move to the mainstream started when he met pioneering label boss Kenny Ogungbe of Kennis Music. An impressed Ogungbe insisted that he was going to make the young producer ubiquitous. They worked together, the young producer issuing beats to artists on the Kennis Music label. The roster included Jaywon for whom he did Facebook; Capital FEMI, for whom he produced Baby I Got It (Money Money) (2010). Masterkraft also worked with late singer Goldie.

Rapper MI heard a beat by Masterkraft and called singer Banky W leading to several collaborations. Banky W’s ‘Jasi’ (2013) and ‘Jaiye Ori Mi’ (2014) are two of the products of that union. Masterkraft has also made his own songs as he plans a mixtape release. His biggest hit is ‘Indomie’ (2014) featuring CDQ and Olamide. He has worked with Flavour as well, featuring the highlife singer on ‘Egwu’. Masterkraft was main producer on the 2014 album by Flavour, Thankful. On ‘Thankful’ Masterkraft combines a mastery of highlife and R&B, showing a versatility that has long been one of attributes.

He owns the record label General Records where Yoruba rapper CDQ is the marquee artist.
