BIO
South African rapper and songwriter TRP ("The Rap Prodigy") emerged as a teenage force few had encountered on the music scene in the mid-2010s. His prodigious talent mesmerising audiences across the Cape Town hip hop landscape, despite being under the legal age for the venues he was shutting down. Co-signs from some of the city's hottest MCs would soon follow.
Drawing inspiration from a range of musical and cultural influences - Jay Z, AKA, football culture and the WWE, to name a few - TRP has crafted a "unique sonic blend of modern alternative and classic rap" (Vending Machine), delivered with lyrical precision that only a true craftsman of hip hop can execute.
His latest mixtape, "The Minerals U Need", was released to audience and media acclaim, being recognised by Verve Magazine as one of their Top 100 Projects of 2025. Highlights for the year included, a standout performance at Nasty C's "Pass The Aux" event; and a Nike AJ1 brand collaboration with Lemkus.
Combining an effortless flow, vivid storytelling and melodic sensibility, TRP's music captures the essence of the 'Beauty & the Beast' duality that reflects the nature of his hometown. His brand of lifestyle rap will resonate with listeners of Larry June, Nasty C and Curren$y.
