BIO
Nduduzo Ngema, known professionally as Zinaro, is an
acclaimed Kwaito artist from Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal,
with formative years in Pongola, KZN.
His musical journey began on grassroots stages, where
early performances at community events shaped his
authentic sound and deep passion for music.
Zinaro rose to prominence as part of the duo Zinaro,
Mthera, releasing their debut album in 2010 and later
achieving mainstream recognition with Liberation Vol. 1,
produced by Dollar & Dust.
The project featured respected collaborators including
Sbo Da Poet, Thokozani Langa, Phuzekhemisi, and others,
with one track featured on SABC 1’s Zone 14.
Since breaking into the mainstream, Zinaro has released
over five music projects, collaborated with artists such as
Nokwazi, DJ Mgadi, and more, and performed on major
stages alongside South Africa’s top superstars.
A two-time Summer Awards nominee and one-time
winner, he is currently managed by Spotless Worx SA, a
Durban-based music management agency.
Zinaro reached a pivotal turning point with his solo debut,
releasing the hit single “Zulu Nae Nae” featuring DJ Nasto
and Mthera.
The track gained national traction, receiving widespread
radio play and placements on major TV productions such
as SABC 1’s Isibaya, alongside interviews and
performances on SABC’s Yo-TV and eTV’s Sunrise.
His growing profile led to performances at major festivals
and events including The Last Dance Festival, Royal
Shows, Magic Tours, Nyus’iVollume, Ugu Jazz Festival, and
the Amcor Dam Festival, sharing stages with leading South
African artists.
In 2018, a key meeting with Demor Sikhosana introduced
Zinaro to Dharam Sewraj of Bhavani Entertainment &
Investments, marking a defining chapter in his career. This
partnership produced chart-impacting hits
such as
“Incwad’ Encane,
” “Ntombenhle,
” “Wash’ Umkhukhu,
” “Dali
Wami,
” and “Kumnandi Ekhaya,
” the latter reaching No. 19
on Ukhozi FM’s Top 20.
Zinaro’s momentum culminated in the release of his debut
album Inzalo Yekwaito in 2020, which went on to win Best
Gqom at the 2021 South African Music Awards (SAMA) —
making him the first-ever winner of the category.
