Dave Tiltman

BIO

A seasoned media and broadcasting executive with 37 years of experience spanning radio presentation, management and executive leadership, including university radio, where I received University Colours for Service to the Student Community at the University of Port Elizabeth.

Appointed Managing Director of Algoa FM in 2000, I have built extensive expertise across radio, audio, programming, commercial strategy and business leadership. I later became Group CEO of AME Limited in December 2018, overseeing strategic growth and innovation across multiple subsidiaries, including the launch of digital products such as the LiSTN App and Simply Smooth streaming brand.

In 2018, I was inducted into the SA Radio Hall of Fame and led Algoa FM to become the first station outside Gauteng to win the Liberty Radio Awards’ Best Commercial Radio Station in South Africa. In 2025, I was named Media Executive of the Year – Male at the Broadcast Media Awards, Southern Africa.

My leadership experience includes serving as Chairperson of MediaHeads 360, Algoa FM, Central Media Group and Moneyweb, as well as an Alternate Director of Kaya FM and Non-Executive Director of RX Radio at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

A Certified Director®, I bring strong governance, strategic leadership, coaching and conflict-management expertise to the evolving media landscape. I was also the only South African appointed as a Broadcast Liaison Officer at the 2010 and 2018 FIFA World Cups in South Africa and Russia respectively.

I am passionate about media innovation, developing high-performing teams and aligning creative excellence with sustainable business results. I am currently based in Johannesburg and serve as Acting Managing Executive of Kaya 959.
